1. You don’t clean the charging port.

Remember to always clean your mobile device. Not only should you wipe the phone’s screen but you should also clean the charging port as some lint and other debris from our pockets might get stuck here. Use a Q-tip with a sharpened end or a toothpick for cleaning it out.

2. You use bright wallpaper.

When checking the time, text messages, or missed calls, you always look at the main display of your phone. A bright and colorful wallpaper on your phone’s main screen can really "eat up" the battery. Hence, it’s better to use black-and-white wallpaper. This will help conserve your smartphone battery.

3. You always carry your phone in your hand.

Try not to always carry your phone in your hands when the weather is hot. Due to the high temperature, the smartphone heats up as well. In addition, the warmth of your hands brings an even greater chance of the phone battery overheating and, as a result, running low.

4. You turn on the auto-rotate screen.

Turn off the Auto-rotate function unless it’s absolutely necessary. A special sensor — accelerometer — is responsible for this function, and it consumes more energy.

5. Background programs are running.

After checking Instagram, messengers, or other applications, people very often simply wrap them up without closing. Hence, the programs keep consuming the battery while operating in the background. So remember to close all windows from time to time.

6. You use the max screen brightness.

When in a building, try to lower the brightness of your screen at least by 30-40%. This amount of light is usually more than enough to see all the information on the display. Moreover, it will help to extend the life of your battery dramatically. When outside, don’t use the max brightness level either. It’s better to use the auto-brightness function to help you see the phone screen even in the sun. Plus, it will turn off after 15 minutes.

7. You switch on vibrate.

The vibrate function consumes the battery greatly. Try to use it only when necessary. In other cases, use the sound mode or the silent mode.

8. You don’t set a "time out" for the screen.

Set the screen to auto time out on your phone, using the shortest available time. The battery consumption will shorten, and even if you forget to block the phone, the phone will do it itself.

9. You switch on GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

Switching on GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi make the battery run low very quickly. That is why you should turn them off if you are not using the function of finding your current location or data transfer at that moment.

10. You don’t switch off your phone.

To prolong the life of your battery, switch off your phone for a night. It will help the battery to cool down and avoid "glitches."

I'm not sure this is good advice.

In the last week or so, both Apple and Google have confirmed that closing your apps does absolutely nothing to improve your battery life. In fact, says Hiroshi Lockheimer, the VP of Engineering for Android, it might make things worse.

but apps does definetely use the battery power whether it is in inactive mod.

it is better totally close the apps rather then remains apps in inactive mod bcos apps uses power when it restart but in inactive state it consumes power anyhow to any alert like msg etc

1) Pointless

2) Only relevant in AMOLED display phones.

3) Very negligible effect

4) Even if you turn of auto rotate, the accelerometer sensor will still be active, cause it has many purpose. - Also it won't eat up battery.

5) You can only close down the application window (activity) there still will be services and broadcast listeners running in background which you can't do anything about.

6) This is correct

7) Very negligible effect

8) Very negligible effect

9) Valid point

10) Nope. Shutting down does nothing for the battery
