Is MTNL throttling ADSL and/or disconnecting intentionally/fraudulently

Hi. I've been on MTNL broadband since 2007 and other than usual sarkari baboo ups and downs, it has served me well all this time. Around the time since this Diwali though, I'm encountering something strange. Initially, the connection was very unstable with ADSL dropping after 5 to 10 minutes. I made a complaint and it was 'rectified'. But then after a few hours, it became unstable again, now dropping connection like 30 to 45 minutes. The lineman changed the line from the junction box to my home. Now, something weird is happening. Whenever I'm streaming or downloading off a torrent, after about 1 hour, the connection drops and reconnects after a while. Doesn't [seem to] happen with ordinary browsing. And the strangest part is that in this duration, I've received three calls from Airtel broadband offering connection.

Are these morons deliberately throttling and/or disconnecting? I think that is very much possible at the exchange level but are these paanwaala baboos doing some such shit? WTF is going on? Any ideas guys?

hmmm, what you need to do is

go to torrent settings and limit no of seeders and peers. no many connections makes the connection un stable. i faced the same when my BSNL connection speed was doubled so was seeders and peers

No it's not a router problem. it's most definitely exchange level. I've tried three different routers and the line from junction box to my home has also been changed completely. No difference. The only thing now left to do is firebomb the exchange.

Dude i have an MTNL connection too, and i am facing somewhat a similar problem as you are. I think there is some problem going on since Diwali as you said. I tried to contact the helpline to fix the problem. Some said to change the port of the LAN cable so i did that from 1st to the 4th one now. For a few days it did work for me but again the same problem started and frequent disconnections are still going on.
They say we need to upgrade with their new plans to let the internet connection work smoothly. Though i don't think there is any issue and they are purposely creating such a problem as for a marketing strategy to get our plans upgraded by any means.
